I purchased David's two 32 Ford Books. They are exceptionally well done and exhaustive.
When ever the two digits 32 appeared in a post on FordBarn, you could be certain that David would respond with the final word. What a legacy he has left for us. |

So sorry to hear this even though I don’t have a ‘32 I really enjoyed his posts on the 32 Fords. He had so much knowledge.

In 1983, I was just a “kid” of 30 doing my ‘32 Victoria. I was a regular on the phone with Roy N at Dearborn High Point Specialties asking questions and ordering stuff. Once, I had a question that stumped Roy, so he said to call David and he gave me his number. Within a couple minutes, I was talking to David and he dispensed with my inquiry in short order. But he wanted to share more. He went on for 90 minutes about all kinds of details and he didn’t want me to leave without all manner of ‘32 insights. I heard stories of his escapades in European junkyards, and all his deep dives into Deuce details. It was fascinating, to say the least. Only later did I learn that he was a senior exec with Ford, and that I had consumed a lot of his valuable time on the clock. But it impressed me that he would dedicate that time to a fellow V8 enthusiast. I learned a lesson that day, that old Ford people will go to great lengths to help each other.

Our condolences to Davids family. When I spoke with David on the phone several years ago, he helped me with almost all my questions about my 32 Ford dump truck. We spoke many times and he continued to provide information and guidance and mentoring. David sent me items for my truck just because he wanted to. He provided Ford specs for the individual wooden seat frames. A set I built for him are probably in his shop maybe in his almost finished 32 orange pickup? We will miss him. Glad we first met in Franklin Tenn at a national meet. Also had dinner with David and Laurie in Detroit at the national meet. At that meet I was not able to travel to his home. But he brought a original 32 truck muffler for my truck. The sound from the 32 B engine will resonate his name.

David was a remarkable person in many ways. One example was his desire to ensure certain individuals were recognized for their efforts to research our Ford hobby. On is own he created the David G. Rehor Award presented to a few individuals through the Early Ford V-8 Club. David didn't want the award for himself but wanted other to have the recognition. I think his words for the awards (added below) speak volumes about David's character. He was presented with this award last year. David is the gold medal standard for this award.
The Early Ford V8 Club of America, Inc. David G. Rehor Award Criteria “The purpose of the award is to recognize long-term efforts by individual members to research, preserve, and share the specifics of Ford Motor Company's vehicles during the 1932 to 1953 period. Such efforts are by their very nature long term and perhaps not normally recognized as such as it is if by magic that a printed history of a group of Ford vehicles appears on the shelves of the Club's online store. Not well understood are the hundreds, no, thousands of hours expended to bring forth an accurate history to be shared with the Club's members and other like-minded enthusiasts. It does not end there as there are updates that are continuously shared both on the Club website and on other venues. This award is in recognition of the efforts of those few individuals who have committed themselves to this worthy task.”

For me and so many others David's knowledge on the Deuce was without question the very best. I learned so much reading both of the Ford V-8 books David authored. There's now a huge void in with his passing. May he rest in peace.

Very sorry to hear that David has passed away. He was aged 86. I was privileged to have known David. Back in 2018, he gave me a private inspection of his old Fords and parts. What an experience. Like many others, I will deeply mlss David on a personal basis. He was a very generous person, giving his time and attention to folks like me who were, and still are, learning about the very early V8s. For years, he's been so ingrained in my thinking that, when faced with a problem or quandary, I would often ask myself "what would David say?"
Rest in peace my friend.

Dave helped me quite a bit on questions concerning the Model B standard coupe I bought Oct of 2024. My first 1932 after 60 years of Model A Fords and Early V8. He mentioned that the Model B coupe 5 window was his first car and also his favorite,surprising to me as I figured it would be the roadster or Deluxe coupe as most '32 guys seemed to favor. First thing he told me was buy his books and reminded me several times when I had Fordbarn questions to ,"read the books",but he would always give me page number probably from memory. Wish I would have met him personally.
