Did Ford pickups ever have the Ford name painted white on tailgates?

I can't answer for other than '40 and '41. In those two years the entire tailgate was body color.

I believe 42 to 47 Period Correct was body color as well....if there was a color in those years i am guessing it was Tacoma Creme.

Mike is correct. In 1940 the tailgate of the Tonner was painted the body color - no striping. In my opinion that was an unfortunate oversight by Ford since the V8 logo and spear on the hood was striped as was the insert on the door. That V8 logo on the tailgate was just begging to be painted which I had done using Tacoma Creme, the color I chose for the striping. You decide which looks better.
