Howdy I have a 41 Ford tudor with a 221 and a side loader transmission. Seems to be a funny year for parts/ standards. Would anyone know the size of clutch it would have. 10", 11" or 9? Trying to get parts ordered before I slide the trans and rear end out of the car to make it a quicker swap. Thanks in advance

My best guess would be 9". There are a lot of not so good pressure plates out there, get your parts from Mac Vanpelt Ford parts.

After 84 years, the only way to be absolutely sure is to take it apart and measure it.

That flywheel has the raised lip, with the pp bolts near the shoulder like my 9".
There would be an extra set of springs in the area of the red circle if it were 10 or 11" Last edited by big deuce; 11-02-2025 at 09:50 PM. |

If you could rotate the PP and look for a part number if found you would be in luck.

Thanks everyone, Gonna crank it over after work and check it out. I had a 46 merc as a kid in high school and that seemed a lot more standard. 41 seems to have a lot of weird changeovers through production

It's a 9". The flywheel with the raised heavy rim only accepts a 9" clutch.

You're not alone, seems there are many changes across the 41 year. Never a dull moment.
