hey, it's just a toy for the uber rich to show-off and/or impress their peer group. they will tire of it in no time and sell it off with a massive loss which is of no consequence to them. sort of like i do, except my losses, although equally massive by percent are decidedly NOT in quantity! ha |

Here is a few fine examples of part (no pun intended) of what we speak. Hank Haney, a golf instructor always said, "Unreal expectations lead to Unreal results". These are three items, "Vary" limited production number for the cars that "need" them......the two Ford/Mercury hubcaps I have been watching now for the better part of a year or more!!!! I have two sets of 4, would love to complete both sets with one each for "spare tires" BUT talking ANY since or "reality" to these seller is like asking them for their heart for a transplant. SMH

Like on ebay where Ive sold at least 7 cars and the buyers went MIA? Yes BAT takes their fee, but good luck to the seller getting paid in another state. |

I think "toy" money isn't out there like it was in the past. Inflation is making us slower to pull the trigger in general. I'm still buying NOS 42-48 parts when I can find them, and they are priced reasonably. I'm 66 and realistically I may have 20 years left but it could be 20 minutes. The prudent thing would be to get rid of everything now. If I did that it would be like sitting here waiting for the undertaker to come. In my mind I still think I could still get a lot done in what time I have left.

I'm not far behind you at 60, I often wonder just buying parts for the cars I have now, IF I am not wasting my money as neither of my Kids have any interest in them. There are SO many factors that fall into why we are here at this point, I can tell you from my perspective and "finally" getting to a point in my life where I have time to work on them....my problems up to now.... The overall economics... Having a family, mortgage, insurance etc etc from about 1993 till now.....IT took the efforts of two incomes to stay in our "JOB's" (just over broke) as inflation and taxation out paced salaries...and still does!!! Lack of time.....eaten up by raising kids and their involvement in activities with school and after school, the cost involved in that. Only having 10 days vacation time to split between the family and my personal likes!!!! Cost of parts (still) in most cases AND the narrow sightedness to think that between original and REPRO (NOT REPOP) parts will be around "when times comes". Cost of vehicles relative to the ability to have the expendable income to acquire them. NOW, in many cases, the cost of shipping is more than the cost of the part SO even at a good price, you basically are doubling the cost, especially IF you are outside the U S or having it shipped INTO the U S Just to scratch the surface. |

Watched Barret Jackson from Scottsdale last night. A drop dead 49 Mercury woodie went for $50K. From what little I could see it looked like a real car/professional restoration with flathead.

![]() Yet another seller not aware of current market values. $35k for this car was quite fair.

Speaking of values etc., on the 60's early 70's muscle car stuff Fords and Chevys are showing a big decrease ( a lot of it was way overpriced to begin with) BUT the same era Mopar stuff is going bonkers.
Hagerty commented on this and said it is because of production numbers. Camaros and Mustangs were cranked out by the hundreds of thousands of units back then but Mopars were only selling at a fraction of those numbers. Now, they are more rare. That is what is driving people today! I still seem to see an interest around here in V-8 era Fords, Model A's and Model T's. Don't panic if the big money has shifted, who really cares anyway ![]() 1966-1976 Ford Broncos are on fire hitting six figures. I personally wouldn't want one as a gift. I worked in a Ford dealership back then and always thought they were a pile of junk. Still do! Another fast growing segment is 60's Impalas and Bonnevilles they bring good money today. People like the roomier cars. |

I for one am happy with the declining values. I have effectively been locked out of these cars I love for the better part of my 50something years. I just bought a beautiful car in remarkable condition for less than a quarter of what they were going for 10 years ago. There are many others just like me who will come along and buy them up when they finally hit the bottom that is yet to come. Most of my friends are sitting and waiting thinking "why buy now? Ill just wait another 5 years and get a better one for half again less". My age group is done building from the older generations scrap, we are looking for complete, serviceable cars with good interiors and presentable paint as cars are extremely expensive to restore these days. I just wish I had more room and I'd stack them up like cord wood and fill a barn to the rafters.

How do we even mark an ad sold? I have been clicking all over the place trying to figure out how to mark my ad as sold.
