On leaving yesterday morning we noticed two classic cars stopped at the rest area, we stopped and talked to them, one a 57 chev and the other an EH Holden, they were on their way to a show in Moree, they said the 34 would be good turned into a hot rod with a LS engine , I told them it was already one, they laughed ,and commented how quite the flathead was.
Nice day drive yesterday, but man some of the bumps on the back roads, one ,we nearly hit the roof , I’m sure I saw the grill from the cab, The fields of grain here are something to see, one property, (cubby stnh is 93K hectares) Speed on these roads is on 40-45 as they are full of dips and holes. The magpies came in for a biscuit at the very small rural location of North Star,a few fallen down sheds and houses and a store, but there was a motorcycle event here and the kids had to push their bikes across the road, a nice safe thing to do. Fuel usage is pretty good at the lower speeds, and nice to travel with the windows down included the back one,you sure smell all the stuff, including dead wildlife, and cattle trucks, well not the trucks, the cattle in them. We have a rest day today in St George and are off to visit a winery today, Lawrie |
