I heard “500 miles or when it gets dirty”, but I’ve been changing it every 500 miles. The oil on the dipstick never looks dirty, but the oil coming out of the pan sure does.

I like to change the oil in my collector cars late autumn of each year. I don't want any acids in the oil to be working on the bearings all winter long.

I drive year round here in SoCal, except if it rains. I have a full flow oil filter. I change to oil between 1000 & 1500 miles, change filter every other oil change. WIX tells me their filter is good up to 10,000 miles or 1 year.

I think folks have given good change intervals and reasons why.

I will just add. When you change the oil you will never get all the old oil out unless you stand the car on end or take the pan of. Because of the dipper wells.
So you new oil may look a little dirty after you start up the engine.
Don’t worry if it does.

Hello, I also like to change it in late fall , before going into storage, blocked up and covered to await another cold and snowy Pennsylvania winter.

Once a year or about 500 miles. Oil starts to darken at about 300 miles. Will be installing partial flow filter this winter, but will stay with routine.
