The rear window glass should have setting tape applied to the edge. The tape should be wide enough to go up the glass about 1/4" on each side. The tape provides the rain seal on the cab sheet metal. Ford used this technique on windshields before the advent of rubber gaskets. Attached is an image of a windshield cross section just to show how the tape wraps around the glass. The same principle applies to the rear window glass.
