Lawrie, While at the Grand Canyon, by all means, take the helicopter ride over the Canyon. Simply standing on the Canyon rim is no comparison to the thrill of experiencing the Canyon from the air. The Pilot narrates the trip over your headphones, dips down inside to view special features.

Oh, and be sure to taste the salt at Bonneville like I did. El Stupido!

Ron, Carefully choose ten things for your bucket list, and make one happen every year. Nothing in this world is more important than those ten things, including college for the Grandkids.

Always wanted to go...........the "Monterey Historics" are the weekend before, not sure that is workable for you-

http://www.mazdaraceway.com/rolex-mo...sports-reunion

I camp with my boy each year at the bottom of the corkscrew/Rainey curve if any locals are going- stop by for a soda pop!

Wifey had me take her to the Grand Canyon couple of weeks ago...We visited the old ghost town of Oatman and my boy feed the wild burros.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oatman,_Arizona

Its on a remote part of Route 66 about 20 miles of two lane remote highway. It was about 105F when we drove it...tried to imagine myself in an old Ford Coupe 60 years ago with the windows rolled down, no money and a screamin' kid sitting next to me .

Walked the Venetian in Vegas and walked North to the Imperial Palace car musuem..nice '41 Continental and a '40 vert...

Have fun! Lane

I'm just hoping they'll be able to run at Bonneville this year. I'm planning on heading up there, but saw a photo taken a couple of days ago, and it's still underwater.

A good source of info on salt conditions is this current thread from www.landracing.com where a lot of the racers and a couple of the officials hang out: http://www.landracing.com/forum/inde...ic,9831.0.html

Note the pictures at the bottom of page two, taken on July 10. Also note the optimism that it will be dry.

Just posted on the SCTA website www.scta-bni.org:

Salt Update

Our Speedweek Prep crew is now leaving on Sunday morning, July 17th to arrive in Wendover in time to start work Monday morning. Our Salt Spy was on the salt today and reports conditions are right to begin our work. We will be there for several days and give reports periodicallly, which will be posted.. That will still leave us aprox. 3 weeks until SpeedWeek and, as always, things can change rapidly.

"Let's go racing!"
