I built a oddball, one-off 12v generator for an 8BA engine going in an early 30s car with fan mount pulley. A lot of different year parts were used, and a lot of work. Not somthing I intend to do again. But it works well.

Love post 241 as I’m about to have the generator on the 37 Ford rebuilt & possibly a new voltage regulator. Found out the hard way the battery didn’t seem to be charging.

For the 1953 Merc, I managed to get new tires installed today. Car rides beautifully and “feels” like it has power steering (it doesn’t). One of the many steps of getting her ready for the CNM in June !

May I ask : Were the new tires bias-ply or radials? What about the ones you replaced?

New tires were ordered from Coker.

BFGoodrich Silvertown Radial | 2.50 Inch Whitewall | 215/75R15

Old tires were from 2003 per the date code. I’d say they were overdue.

Kelly, I was wondering what you bought, nice car! Bought a 6V electric wiper motor for the 48 (old one is toast), and also an inner distributor cap off Ebay. Kube was that yours? Got up to 40 degrees today. Went out and started the 46 and 48 today. We are getting closer to spring.

The sun came out early this morning, so I took Miss Daisy for a little ride. This car is always a pleasure to drive.

Woke up my 40 to put in a local Netflix Movie. Free storage for 7 weeks. Too bad I neglected the car over the winter and spent two hours getting it running. When will i ever learn.

I just got home from Oregon where I was working on my 41 pu. I learned the hard way (AKA things you'll never forget) to always check you valve to head clearance. The heads worked fine on a original 8BA but the new stainless valves have thicker/taller head then the originals from ford. Yes the heads were milled sometime in the past and I did the tinfoil balls on the pistons but not the valves. Needles to say , I didn't get it runnig this trip, maybe next . Tim

Successfully serviced my 1934 dual temp gauge to accurately register the amount of gas in my tank.

Not a V8 ,but model A.
Straightened and repaired the bent front radius rod from my model A, man that is made from tough stuff, also the top left hand perch mount was worn miles out of round, so made a new one and cut the old one off and welded the new one in place.
Also trued up the old perch bolts and cleaned up the threads .

Finally got the radiator grille shell on my truck. Had to fight with the stainless steel trim as it had it's own mind made up of a shape different than what I needed, but lots of hand tweaking finally got it nailed down. Then was able to get the NOS radiator grill emblem mounted with the correct cad-plated backing plate and chromium-plated screws. The radiator ornament is re-chromium plated NOS. Nothing fits so nice as original parts!

Now onto the fender skirts and hood.

Replaced the Voltage Regulator on my 41 pickup. Charges good now. Have been preparing my 32 sedan for paint. Long ongoing job.

I just finished restoring this 1938-1939 style 3-brush generator with refurbished original Ford cutout.
