Default 35 Lighting Switch Rod

Is it necessary to put any lubricant on the lighting switch rod prior to inserting
it into the steering column?

Possibly a small skim of grease inside and out of the small brass ferule under the horn button assembly, IMHO.

Guys just something else to consider is to thoroughly clean the internal steering shaft as well to help eliminate any friction on the light rod. I believe these should have a film of your favourite oil or grease or lanolin etc because of dissimilar metals between the steel steering shaft and the alloy light switch ( even though they technically shouldn’t touch)!
