Default 92/81 Carbs

I have read and understand that the 81 carbs came on the V8 60 engine. Will two 81's work on stock 59AB and if not, why do so many people seem to want them?

Yes. They are the lowest CFM at 135 ea one. 2, 48's or 97's might be to much gas on a bone stock motor.

They seem to work really well with multiple carb setups. I have 2 97s on my avatar car and 2 81s on my 5w. Both have mild cams. The 97s were jetted down, the 81s are working fine as is at least so far. I have over 6k miles on the avatar roadster but ony a few hundred miles on the 5w so far.
81s are not nearly as plentiful due to the fact they were new on the "thrify 60s"

@deuce lover and @ deuce roadster, thank you for the replies. Maybe I've finally lucked out. Fellow I bought them off of had four he had thought about using on a 4 x 2 manifold he had but then decided not to. Again, thank you

@alanp561 did you end up using a pair of 92/81’s on your stock 59AB and how did they perform?

Its the 4cyl guys that want em the most. They work wonderful on an A or B motor with a down draft manifold

'37 and '38 V8 60's used the Stromberg 81. '39 switched to the Holley 92.
