Early Ford Axle Keys. Easy to make so I made some!

Time for a breather and just some little jobs.

Just some little jobs this time around. I decided to make some new Early Ford type axle keys. I needed one for the 33 coupe and can use others on my other vehicles. It wasn't difficult and could be dome by anyone at home with basic tools.
The garage roof was annoying me with debris blowing in and getting on top of the cars. I did a round of little jobs just to tidy up the area and take care of some building maintenance.
Back to a little more car related nonsense next time.

Tonights bit of light entertainment.

Geoff's bracket needed straightening. We get it sorted.
I paint the bootlid on the 100E. Green be Gone!
Geoff popped by on his lightweight Panther, just recently put on the road after restoration.

Thanks for dropping by Mart's Garage!

Mart's 57 T-Bird: Can I modify it so it starts in Park? Neutral safety switch upgrade! (Update 2434)

One of the quirks of these older Automatics was only being able to start in Neutral. This was a contributing factor to a little mishap I had when I accidentally selected reverse while working on the car. Luckily no damage was done. When I showed this, a comment from a viewer prompted me to do some research. I found a description of some mods done to the switch to allow the car to be started in Park as well as Neutral, which is more the norm in later vehicles. So follow along as I modify my switch using the forum post as a guide.

Twin carbs on a flatty. Just how difficult can a fella make it?

Mart's 1933 Coupe: Hot Rod Dual Carbs for Pendine! Part1. (Update 2435)

I have decided to run my 33 coupe at this year's VHRA Hot Rod Races at Pendine. I have ran it before in it's current configuration, so I wanted to see what a difference a dual carb setup would make. The rest of the engine is unchanged and pretty well stock. The manifold does not fit as is so follow along while I make a series of modifications. Lots of lathe and milling machine work involved in this job. Hopefully once completed we will see an improvement on the beach!
The engine in the coupe is the crusty flatty. The one I featured in a video series a few years ago. Check it out the playlist if you want to see an engine that in reality should have been scrapped.
I Hope you enjoy this offering. Don't forget: Keep it real! Keep it cheap!

More machining madness on the not quite a bolt on twin carb conversion!

Mart's 1933 Coupe Pt6: Hot Rod Dual Carbs for Pendine! Part2. (Update 2436)

In the last video I evolved a plan and started the machining. In this one I continue along the same path and get the carbs bolted on using custom studs. I then turn my attention to the next conundrum which is how to mount the generator. Lots of lathe and milling machine work involved in this job. Hopefully once completed we will see an improvement on the beach!

Mart, next you’ll be melting aluminum cans and casting your own manifolds.

Guess what? I did some filming at Pendine!

Pendine 2024. Mart's 1933 Coupe at the VHRA Hot Rod Races! Part 1! (Update 2438)

Hello! Welcome to Mart's Garage. I have decided to run my 33 coupe at this year's VHRA Hot Rod Races at Pendine. I have ran it before in it's current configuration, so I wanted to see what a difference a dual carb setup would make.
So Join me and Geoff, Rusty and Trev on the trip down to Pendine, South West Wales. This Video covers the drive down and the first part of Saturday. I show most of the cars and my first run down the beach. I do see an improvement over my previous outing so the twin carbs appear to be doing the trick! Make sure you look out for part 2!

Looks like your work paid off in gaining you some mph. Is Pendine only once a year?

Yes, Mart. Keep the videos coming. I always look forward to them on Fridays. Great job on the dual carb setup, as well. Pendine seems to be a fun venue. Watching it and many other of your videos that I can connect with you, having a similar work and hobby background. I would like to meet you sometime, as I've been to France and Great Britain a couple of times. But getting older, at 78, I kinda doubt I'll be in Europe again. My sister was in Scotland last year with a couple of her daughters, one of which lives in Denmark, so we do have connections there.

Beautiful Prototype D type Jag at Gaydon May 2024. It Sounds great too! (Mart's Update 2442)

Tonight it's a quick walkabout at the Gaydon Gathering May2024. I captured some footage of the wonderful 1954 D Type Jaguar Prototype OVC 501. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. It's a fantastic vehicle.
Click the link to read the fascinating story of the Jag D type prototype and it's Le Mans history.

Releases will be occasional rather than regular from now on. I want to step off the Youtube treadmill. So here's the first non regular release:
