In a car with an indented firewall you don't have that option. Not to mention they fit a ¼" gas line.

BTW, the new ball valve shut off valves that Snyder's has work great. Finally someone improved the POS original type of valve. No leaks.

I had one on a 30 , worked fine until the summer temps and then started to be intermitant then totally failed on a tour . Took it off and trashed it . If you run one carry a 1/8 nipple fitting to remove it on road or another fuel line so when it fails your not stuck ,Learned my lesson and wont happen again.

Hello again, with the indented firewall the electrical shut off is useful, to use the original you have to open the hood to turn it it on or off.Not that hard for long term storage, thank the state of New York for relocation of the shut off .

A technician from Snyder's (Joe) called me about problems with my electric fuel shut off switch. The ignition switch controls a pulsing current from the points. Thus, by connecting the shut off to the ignition switch, the shut off experienced a pulsating current rather than a steady current. He advised me to rewire my ignition and coil so that the ignition switch would handle a steady current. Now my electric fuel shut off runs on a steady current with no problems. (Remember that you cannot do this with an original pop-out ignition switch.) See attachments.

Since I installed the electric shut off, I have suffered back-firing upon deceleration and stuttering at full throttle. It appears the shut-off valve restricts the fuel flow making the tillotson run lean. The internal plunger valve is merely a 1/8 inch ID neoprene washer. I tried to open it up to no avail. I removed the electric shut-off and the engine no longer backfires when I take my foot off the gas and pulls strongly beyond 45mph without missing. Goodbye to the electric shut-off. Hello to a manual 1/4 inch manual ball valve.

I had one until it failed on a tour . Quickly removed it and wont put another one on . If you want one ,carry an extra fuel line so when it fails you can remove it and get you home . I had to tow mine home …….
