Electronic vs. mechanical 6 volt turn signal flasher
https://youtu.be/G7UePX5BowE
left 4-ways on for filming. Roasted 2 electronic flasher units. Mechanical one still working after 2 hours of continuous operation. Why are the new electronic ones so fragile?

What flasher unit were you using? Were the bulbs you had in there LED or incandescent?

Send them back. My old "Chinesium" flasher relay I bought off Amazon a year ago is still kicking. None of the vendors seem to give any kind of info on the flashers they have, they should provide a spec sheet for them.

Re: Electronic vs. mechanical 6 volt turn signal flasher
I noticed in his video, Paul quotes a number to identify what globe he was using. Those numbers mean nothing to me (or anyone else I know). Is there a system to them, if so, what is it.
Globes here are marked by voltage and wattage. Eg, 12v/21w is clearly a 12 volt globe and 21 watts. (What is a CP?) They say America and other English speaking countries are divided by a common language but there are times I wonder whether we do in deed, speak the same language!

Re: Electronic vs. mechanical 6 volt turn signal flasher
CP = candle power
It's an archaic form of measuring light intensity. We don't use it here in the states anymore either, we use lumens now. We also don't call them globes, we call them bulbs. |
