Parking brake disassembly
Can anyone instruct me as to how to disassemble the parking brake handle on my '35 pickup. This is the handle with the spring loaded push button at the top. I want to refurb this thing but I don't see how that springy thing comes apart.
Thanks, Heard

Re: Parking brake disassembly
Slide the handle off the pawl/mount, push the rod into the lever from the bottom, press the little pin that is now accessible out of the button, pull the rod and ratchet out of the lever, and finally pull the spring out of the recess on the top of the lever.
Be careful if the pin or button is stuck as the rod can break where the pin hole goes thru it. Sometimes the spring (or part of the spring if broken) can be stuck in the recess. A tap screwed into the spring can give you a handle to pull it. |

Re: Parking brake disassembly
Rich has it correct, the main thing holding it together is that pin on the button.
