Tire Inner Tube
Is the tube with the vulcanized metal valve stem still in stock anywhere? I need a 19" one in new or good used condition.

Re: Tire Inner Tube
I'm not sure about that Bob, but I'd like to comment on a new set of 19" tubes I bought from Walt Bratton for our '30 Roadster, two years ago.
I was in the garage just yesterday. Car is stored in a heated garage. I checked the air pressure and three were still on 35 pounds the other was at 33 pounds. Two years and I've never put air in them THANK YOU Bratton's for supplying good inner tubes! |

Re: Tire Inner Tube
You should try to save that air. Air from 1953 is heard to come.

I have also used the inner tubes from Bratton's and I have had great luck with them. I always recommend them.

I have these tubes I believe they are from the 40's. Rubber is still soft.

Re: Tire Inner Tube
If they're folded up I'd be suspect of them. Take one out of the box and check the folded corners, then inflate it and see.

Re: Tire Inner Tube
Are bonded in metal stems available?
I though everyone "original" was going to the loose "clamp-in" stem - which uses the regular tube rubber stem which is cut off, leaves a hole, and then you stretch the hole around the T-shaped metal stem and clamp it in place? Joe K

Re: Tire Inner Tube
My Victoria has rubber stem tubes modified to receive metal stems. Out of the 5 tubes I modified, one only holds air for a day, and the others need replenishing once per month. My coupe has rubber stem tubes and once per year they need replenishing because of the cold winter's cold weather.
I found that Snyder's has some 19" metal stem tubes in their show room for sale. These have stems that are vulcanized a bit offset, but I ordered 4 of them anyway.

Re: Tire Inner Tube
I bought six 19 inch tubes with the metal stems from Eckler's in October. I saw they had them in stock and jumped at the chance.
