Searching for Ford Literature
I am looking for:
BAD-17503-A Windshield Washer Kit Drawings I am hoping that this set would help in installing this accessory after the having picked up all the parts necessary. My car is a '58 Fairlane. The part number came out of the 1958 Body, Trim and Sealant Manual. I do not have to have originals, .pdf would be great. Just something to go by would be most helpful. If anyone knows where I could look that might help too. I have already tried Ebay, Faxon Auto Lit. Ford themselves, unless there is some type of archive I don't know about. I also have asked Dennis Carpenter, NOS Ltd, Obsolete Reliable (Ford) Parts Co. Concours Parts, Kanter Auto, and probably someone else that I can't remember. Many thanks in advance to any Barners who can help, Jim |

Re: Searching for Ford Literature
You can find the INSTALL ILL in the 1949/59 FORD MPC ILL SECTION.

Re: Searching for Ford Literature
I do have that book and can see the routing of the tubing and the reservoir location under the hood. The placement of the pump under the dash is not clear and I'm not sure if there are any indents or something to indicate where the nozzles are to placed and how to get the tubing to them.

Re: Searching for Ford Literature
If you don't have the pump installed, it's a really difficult job. You may absolutely need to remove the driver side inner fender panel to get to the area the foot pump bolts into.
It's a foot pump that sis below and to the right of the hand brake. On to the hi towards of the firewall. I have a 57 that came with it. On another I parted I only gained access because I had the whole front clip off. Perhaps consider and 60's mechanical pump and a push button install. |

It may be under WIPERS or ACCESSORIES SECTION(s). Quote:
I have a 1957 WSM TEXT. Let me see if I can get up off my a$$ and wander down to my cobweb corner section.

Re: Searching for Ford Literature
The wipers were converted before the car was purchased. So no idea...

Re: Searching for Ford Literature
I just saw this. I'll get some pics on one of my 57's.
My wagon still has the pump but was converted to electric so the pull line doesn't have anything to connect to. On my hard top. I been redoing connections. But the old quote pump is still there. I just recall that to use the foot pump. You have to have a few vacuum source. This vacuum line would go to the wiper motor and of the wiper miter there was a spot for the pump. Traditionally it was off the dual vacuum topper of the fuel pump. Also as far as the spraying you need to find the accessory spray heads or find real ford parts but they are all Trico parts. Checked the manual. There is only a section on the wiper cables system and adjustment. No pump or how to in the washer.

Re: Searching for Ford Literature
Here is an instruction See clear set up.
Basically you substitute the button for the foot control and the bottle with the pouch. Also the jets are little tubes for the 57/59 fords. My F100 truck has the setup but I don't think it's hooked up anymore. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...struction.html |

Re: Searching for Ford Literature
The original Ford Kit for this job had an instruction sheet included identified only as;
Number 410. I found this info on page 639 of the Ford M.P.C. Text edition 1964 edition. |

The 1958 FORD car kit (B8AZ 17A603-A) is not listed in the MPC FINAL ISSUE. I gave you a source of the kit in the 1960 edition but there was no kit parts breakdown. To positively ID the sheet, you are going to need the correct period CHASSIS CATALOG.

Re: Searching for Ford Literature
You are correct. I stand corrected. I did see a later edition of the 58 parts catalog as being dated in Aug 1959. It is a PA-759-59 it covers the Canadian models as well as the American.

Re: Searching for Ford Literature
I believe that is CANADIAN FORD.
This (attached) is what you need (IMO). Notice the FORM NO (7513) and QUARTER of YEAR PRINT (SEP 1956). This will be the introductory PARTS catalog of the 1957 MODEL YEAR. It should have what you are looking for. If not, you would look for a DEC 1956 printing. They were released by quarter of the year, allowing new parts introduced and deletions later going to loose leaf cataloging. FINAL ISSUE would be bound. CLICK HERE - https://www.faxonautoliterature.com/ See if the ILL shows large enough -

... ... D'oh!... You understand I have my good days and more than likely bad days ... You would then look for SEP or DEC 1957 ISSUE if it was available. I do not know how long FORD carried the CHASSIS/BODY MANUALS before going to loose leaf or MPC. DEALERS used an ORDER FORM to order cataloging from FORD and one would need a copy of that form to see what was available for what period. Sorry about that... Now where are those blue pills ... FAXON LITERATURE carries a lot of this stuff. I would call them to inquire. |

Re: Searching for Ford Literature
Here some pics.
1957 ford country sedan. The wiper motor has been changed to electric. You can see where the foot pump mounts to the left of the parking brake. On the other side of the firewall you can see the spigot for the vacuum hose. Also in the pics you can also see wheee the sprayers are mounted and the tee for the lines. |
