John, my wife, Nancy,...also my best friend and a great help with the old cars...had a '67 blue Mustang convertible. Like you, I tried to find a decent one but they were/are beyond our budget. So, we found a '56 T bird to go with the '47 in my avatar that was much more affordable. Since the '47 is finished, we're rebuilding the engine on the '56! BTW, took my driving drivers license test in my folks '55 Fairlane in 1960!
