Does anyone here have a wiper motor that I can buy from you? Mine is completely missing. I know I can switch over to a electric type motor but we don't get much rain here in AZ so I think the vacuum motor will be ok.
I saw a few on ebay but they are mostly for 55 ford trucks and I don't think they are the same because of the windshield size. If no one has one, can somebody here that has a picture of the motor post it here so I can see what the wiper arm actuator on the motor looks like. I don't know the exact name of that part but its the one part on the motor that moves the wiper arms and blades. Do you think the one from the 55 truck will fit my wagon? I really think that a motor from any 55 ford passenger car will work on my wagon but not sure. Thanks for your help as always. |

I converted my '54 Ranch Wagon to a 12 volt Newport Engineering unit. If I still have the old vacuum unit you can have it for postage if it will work for application. PM me if interested.

This is from my 56. You can have it for shipping. It fells snug moving the arm back and forth.

Thanks to both of you for your kind offer. I think I will try the 56 model motor from 56 sedandelivery. I know that most parts between the 55 and 56 will work but don't know about the 54 but I will do a little research on that. 56 sedan, I sent you a PM. Can you please get back to me as soon as possible so I can get this motor from you.

Thanks Ford Blue for your input. Years back I converted my wagon to a 12V system.

Correct, but the item in question is vacuum operated.

It doesn't matter which electrical system he has. The wiper motor is vacuum operated. Not a single spark required anywhere for the wiper motor to operate. I do hope you have a dual-action fuel pump though, in case you plan to do any highway driving in the rain or snow.
BTW, '55 and '56 wiper motors are identical for all full-size Ford cars and wagons. So either one will mount and work without any modifications. |

Thanks guys for your good information. Daves55sedan, I have a question regarding the dual action fuel pump. Right now, there is no wiper motor at all. I am running a 302 with its fuel pump that is required and its running really good. If I get a vacuum wiper motor, Can't I just tap into the intake manifold to supply at least 15psi to that motor or will I need more vacuum than that? What is the purpose of a dual action fuel pump in my case?
Also, I think that there are 2 vacuum ports on the wiper motor, one on the top and one at the bottom. Can you tell me where this vacuum port hoses go to. Thanks for all your help. |

The original dual action fuel pumps had a built-in vacuum booster as the top half of the fuel pump, to help the wiper motor work more consistently. The hose fitting on top of the wiper motor next to the mechanical slide valve is for the vacuum line connection from the engine compartment. The 'fitting' on the bottom is an outside air inlet. The one I have the slide valve part is reversed from the one in your pic. You can see it in the crappy pic I posted earlier.

Not surprised if the one in my photos isn't quite the same. It's from a '57 Bird not a 'full-sized' Ford car, and with the optional windshield washers.
