Hey everyone. On a Halibrand 101 qc for model a tubes. Is there a special carrier to use so it will not interfere with the main shaft ? Or do you just machine the carrier to clear the shaft.
Any help appreciated. |

You will have to machine in a groove.

Machine the carrier. Remove the Y yoke for the diff gears, reassemble, turn down so there is about a 1/8" flat spot in the bolts, grind the ends of yoke to fit, all will be fine.

Jim thank you.
John. You are right. I don’t not want to machine the shaft. Too hard. Thank you all for the help ! |

Do not cut the shaft (it would need to be ground which would weaken it too much)...machine the carrier for small clearance as others have already stated in this thread.
