Default Mercury crankshaft

Working on a 8BA found three of the four plugs you drive in the crankshaft was in the oil pan. I have threaded the holes with 3/8 NPT tap. My question is would you install aluminum or steel Allen headed plugs? The steel plugs weigh about 132 grains and the aluminum plugs weigh 64 grains.
Thanks in advance for your help and advice.
