May be a little bet of mixing of the oil filter system types Ziggster. The filter canister you normally see mounted on the heads is a by-pass filter. Most 100% or 95% external filter modifications mount the filter somewhere else. There are exceptions of course, but this is true in general.

I'll do it again. In my opinion, the way most of the these engines are used these days (frequent oil changes and no operation in dirty environments), the stock "Partial-Flow" filter is the best filter system for these engines. They filter out smaller particles than a "Full-Flow System" ever could. Personally, I think an engine without the traditional filter, looks "Naked",
