A customer in Texas sent us these transmission gearbox castings from a 1951 pickup truck, and asked us to build the rest of the unit. Since he's planning on putting the unit into a hot rod, he wanted it real pretty so he had the castings chrome plated. Hopefully, the car will show off the transmission a little bit.

Smooth surface + chrome = less wind resistance .we all know that. I do like it and I'd
really like to see photos of the whole truck especially the road side. Charlie ny |

Not sure how I feel about a chromed transmission...I may have to reflect on it for a while.

Nice looking, did the plating effect the bores?

How do you prevent the inside of the case from getting plated during the plating process?

Wow It should look great in a show car. I wouldn't run that on the street. JMHO

Used to see them once in a while in show cars. They would jack up one side of the car and put lots of spotlights and angel hair underneath it. They also usually had a big mirror on the floor.

I was concerned about the bearing bores and the bolt hole threads, but all was good. It didn’t appear that the plating was in the bearing bores, and, in fact, the bearing fit was good. So, we had no assembly issues.
