Krylon32, It sounds like a good idea. I guess I'm blessed, the deck lid I just installed (NOS own it 40 years) fits like it was born there. I thought I would need spacers on the pivot pins but after installation it is centered and doesn't move side to side. This is the unintended consequence of pins that are too long (1 3/4") and come into contact with the lid. I need to shorten the pins by about 1/8" to eliminate the interference.
