Why not cut the flare off the end of the tubing, remove the flare nut then slip on a Ford nut ( Edelmann 108400 ) and a 1/4" ferrule and connect your flex line to it....
the way Ford did ?

I just looked at your pump....next up tomorrow....it is the rare factory installed
design 1/2 20 inlet and outlet identical machining. Inlet accepts the male end of the flex line and seals on the angle. The outlet takes the 1/4" hard line and seals with a 1/4 ferrule and Ford nut.
