Front engine mount
Why was the brass washer at the bottom of the front engine mount replaced by a flat washer and when?

Re: Front engine mount
I just replaced the front motor mount that had "just the washer" installed, and the center bolt was about worn in half. The washer did not appear to do the job that the new brass bushing I used to replace the plain washer might do.

Re: Front engine mount
The flat washer allows lateral movement of the front motor mount frame flexing over rough roads etc etc . The brass washer had a step which entered the cross member thus restricting sideways movement . Look in the Service Bulletins that will tell you when the change occured

Re: Front engine mount
The brass bushing was replaced in production about January of 1929 because it was thought to restrict lateral motion of the engine, thus transferring vibrations into the frame.
