Re: Chickasha In March - Who Is Going ?
All events in Washington with over 250 attendees, including now, schools are cancelled. This weekend was the Gallopin Gerties swap meet. I see other states are following suite.

Re: Chickasha In March - Who Is Going ?
Within 2 weeks every store will be closed and all events will be cancelled in the US.
Wanna bet?... See Europe today... Here in Belgium : ALL stores and shops closed in the weekends. ALL events cancelled, ALL bars, restaurants etc closed (7/7) for at least 3 weeks, ALL schools closed (5 weeks), !!... One thing is good : the roads are as empty as the store shells. A pleasure to drive a classic! |

Depending on State law, the city Mayor also has the power to shut down events, not only the Governor. This just happened where I am. Quote:
I think you're correct, in the USA what we see now is just the beginning.

Re: Chickasha In March - Who Is Going ?
I guess I don't see the similarity of a school vs. a swap meet. The key word as I understand it is assemblage, -or an assembly of people. In a church or school setting, you have people sitting almost next to each other. This is not what you find at a swap meet.

Re: Chickasha In March - Who Is Going ?
Pretty hard to stay 6' apart, as is suggested, at swap meet tho. I can't think of anything I really need that badly right now that can't wait a few.

Re: Chickasha In March - Who Is Going ?
For some the swap meets can be a boost in needed income and for them that can be a big loss. I know that for me any extra income that I might have seen, the loss is going to hurt with having the Portland Swap Meet canceled.

Re: Chickasha In March - Who Is Going ?
Does anyone remember the swine flu from 2009?
It was way, way worse then this, over 200,000 dead in USA, and yet we did not have all this crazy panic, I think the media is to blame and there is a motive behind all this we are not seeing. I'm still going to the meet, and going out and about as usual, this virus is real but it is in no way as bad as the common flu that hits every year. Don't panic people and don't fall for the fear mongers

Re: Chickasha In March - Who Is Going ?
The motive is to broadcast the warning. The threat is very real in large congested cities, mostly indoors. Out here in the boonies it's a lot harder to contract anything from touching a fencepost, so we can dismiss much of it. But we still need to be aware of it.
