Cold outside today and am watching and old episode of Andy Griffith. In this one Otis the drunk got a car. Had a hole in the top of the door and from one shot I could see it had no door panel and also no window crank was visible. thumbnail_image1[1] (3).jpg

The episode is called "Hot Rod Otis". It is one sweet 33 Cabriolet. Got to see the whole episode, get to hear it crank and run, unmistakable FLathead V8. Great episode and in the end Charlie Varney was one luck dude!!! LOL

Interesting to note it has the early skirtless fenders.

I can't find it now, but I remember reading an article years ago and it seems Dick Scritchfield may have ended-up with the car as a result of a huge studio auction. Seems like the studio had owned the car since new. DD |

Charlie, it's just the angle and shadow. I've only seen this episode 35 times and I watch it everytime its on just to see the 33. But its a standard 33 sorry for the poor quality picture.

That Cabriolet does exist, I used to own it. It went to Denver and was turned into a retro street rod with a 351 motor. When I had it, it was featured in American Rodder magazine in 1992. I believe it is in Arizona right now cared for by the last owners widow.
