Ma. inspection regulations for cars in storage

Might be different in another state but here in NY State I don't worry about the expiration month stated on the sticker and just get the inspection done as soon as I get car out of storage. I make an appointment to play it safe and if stopped on the way (never have) I would tell the Officer my situation and that I'm on the way to get it done (they can call and check if they want). I find the authorities here very very friendly towards old car enthusiast's because we generally take good care of our vehicles. I always get waved-thru when going thru a police check point.

What are these "police check points" all about?
