Re: My most recent acquisistion
One of my Mom's old high school boyfriends had a 36 roadster way back when. I think it was a maroon color. It was a nice one but he had several vintage cars.
My Pop had a 1935 Tudor slant back but it wasn't near as nice. He drove the 35 from Iowa State Teachers College out to Minter Field near Bakersfield, CA with no problems. After finishing primary training he drove on to Pecos Air Field in Texas for twin engine training also with no problems. Another long drive to Avon Park Air Field in Florida for B-17 transition training with no problems. He sold the car before they flew overseas but it was one he wished he'd kept even if it was an old standard V8 car.
My Grandpop purchased a 1932 Chrysler Imperial 8 sedan brand new in 32. From the photos he took, it was a really nice car but it didn't stay around long. The damn thing caught fire the day after he bought it. He was in town getting insurance for it. It was either an electrical short or my pop and his brothers smoking corn silk cigarettes but no body ever fessed up to that. Grandpop liked the Chrysler products and Pop was a Ford man.
