Sure nice to see all these 32's. Seams to be a good Manny of them out there.Pretty soon mine will be scattered all over the garage. Going to pull the rear end, tranny and maybe the motor. CHANGING THE GEARS IN THE REAR END. GOING TO PUT 3:25. Plus a new clutch, pressure plate and resurface the flywheel. Then rebuild the front end. All left is the engine thinking about dropping the oil pan snd checking the bearings.

Here is mine. I have owned it twice. I wish it were closer to stock but there were so many modifications to it that I couldn't afford to restore it on my salary.

@ Old Redneck
Look at getting 3:55 instead of 3:25. We put 3:55's in ours and very happy with the "Flat Land" speed vs RPM's. We had it out in California in the hills and Mountains of So Cal and it labored pulling those hills/mountains, I can't imagine what 3:25's would be like......You'd have to stay in first all the way!!!!

My buddy has a 40 2 door sedan with 3:25 gears and we have mountains here plus lots of hills and he pulls all them in high gear no problem. The 32 is much lighter and I see no problem. When I get it in I will let you know. At 65 in his car on the interstate the engine is quiet not screaming like 3:54

You must be thinking of 4:11 gears, our 32 runs along quite nicely at 55 and the engine is not "over rev-ing" at all (3:54)!!! Not sure of the torque aspect but what?? But what 20 25 plus horse power difference between a 40 flathead with a two barrel and an Original 32 flathead with a Detroit Lubricator!!!! Not to be argumentative

You may well regret anything lower than 3.78 with a stock engine.

I agree with David. Several years ago I replaced the 4:11 rear end in my stock '34 Fordor with 3:54 and now wish I would have selected 3:78 instead. This primarily because of the hilly/mountainous driving I do at times. I was able to compare the 3:54 in my '34 sedan with the 3:78 in my '37 sedan and came to the conclusion that 3:78 is the best all-inclusive ratio to have for any kind of driving we may encounter with these cars of ours....

Pat has 3:5? in his 32 coupe and he has no problem, he loves them. I was in a 39 Ford coupe and a 40 2 door son with 3:25 and the were very nice and no problem in the hills. You half to run them to know. I was total surprise on how nice they are.

Ken, I do have a 3:54 in my 32 5W, however, If I had an original Detroit-Lubricator single shooter in mine it would probably labor on any type of hill. I notice a drop-off of speed when going up a longer hill. I am thinking the 3:25 would really bog down. Just sayin! Pat

That good to hear Pat. Now I rode in your 32 and it was running very nice with 3:54. Now You live in flat country where there no hills. I HATE 4:11 gears. Mt 39 has 3:78 and a Columbia and I stay in high range most of the time. Maybe 3:54 with a DL carb would be the answer.

These pics were taken at the Ironstone CA Concours. The 5 Window and the Woodie in the foreground are mine. The other Woodie belongs to a friend. All of them are Model "B"s.

Absolutely delighted with the switch from 3.78 to 3.25 in my '41 coupe, - but it is 284 cubic inches and 8.9 compression ratio. Makes much torque.

This Deuce Sport Coupe has been passed among friends for the passed ten years and now I have it again. First done like this in the 70's and gone over again in '85 with one of those SBC's. It needs another going over and I have to decide what to do. It is a very good "beater" and I will have some fun with it while I am deciding. Wish me luck.

Like to see more pictures of it and what you are going to do to it. Now you have two of them. Lucky. Here a picture of a 3 window about 25 miles from me. He paid $75.00 for it in the 50's. He courted his wife in it. He has had it for 65 or more years. He say they can fight over it when he gone.
