Im trying to rebuild my rockers on my 36 coupe and posted looking for help with pictures description or a template of the pieces Im missing. Mine are completely gone.
My post must of offended someone as it seems to have been deleted with no explanation.

If I want advise should that be in the want ad?

I'm actually building a 36 ford with all ford parts without a bucket load of cash.

Welcome Lindsay. I've learned that you need at least a half-bucket load of cash just to get started building an old Ford. If you're talking rocker panels, there are a few listed on eBay. Pickup mostly, but someone is probably making them. Drake?

I don't know how many folks currently checking the barn forum have experience with the 36 body bottom edges. Some guys may only check once a week but I have no idea. There are some good threads on the 33/34 cars for work like this but I'm not sure about the 36. If I remember right, you are missing metal in the lower edge of the front cowl area from the A pillar forward. You might just try bringing it back up once a day or something like that. Other wise you can try over on the HAMB forum of the jalopy journal. There might be some 36 guys over there that have worked the rocker edges.

I have a lot of sheet metal experience but not on 1936 models.

I responded to "36coupes" request for info on '36 rockers yesterday AM. He stated that he had only found one source which was in the $400 Cad range. I suggested Drake and that I would look for another source in the Eastern US that I knew of.
Later in the day I looked at Drakes catalog, I was surprised to find that Drake does not offer rockers for the '36 cars, trucks only.

36Coupe, I read your post and doubt you offended anyone, but I do feel the monitors are deleting posts that appear in some way to be wanted or for sale ads on the discussion forum.
Probably finding the rocker section/piece you need from a donor vehicle may be difficult.
One of my '35 tudor sedans needs the rocker panels and sections of the floor replaced. Anticipating this several years ago, I bought new floor pans and rocker panels to have ready if/when I ever get to it. The pans came from Paul Bradley, but I don't recall where I bought the rocker panels. However, I don't think those rockers were that expensive.
As someone mentioned, post a picture of the area of your rocker that needs replacing.

This is a build thread on the HAMB of a 36 3-window Deluxe Coupe. Starting on page 3 & on to 4 it shows photos of the frontal area with the firewall removed.

A lot of shapes in that lower front panel. A good metal man can make anything there but it takes a lot of experience to form the curves and fabricate the reinforcement pieces.

Best approach might be to locate a donor car. The construction appears similar to other years in that period. Believe there are some threads on the HAMB about construction these pieces for 33-34s. Different parts, but similar general arrangement. I agree with rotorwench, they can be fabricated (as almost any part can) but it is not a simple process to be sure!

There are 3 commercial sources of 35/36 rocker panels that I am aware:
- McPhersonauto in Kansas - excellent reproduction in 16GA.
- EMS in Ohio - 16 GA and are fairly accurate
- Seller = RoadsterUTE on eBAY - think they are made in Australia. 18 GA
Price varies by $100 plus some best I recall.

The above is listed in order of cost and originality - in my opinion.
There may be others.

There is a 36 Ford resource thread on the HAMB
but seems like it has died the last year or two.
Some of the info is not accurate for vendor sources.

Solid donor cars don't seem to exist in my part of the world.

The rocker sure don't seem like 16 gauge material.
I have fairly acurate patch panels made. My floor had more pin holes and thin areas than anything.
I was also able to borrow a set of Bradley floor pans for the winter. That makes fabricating floor patches a lot easier.
I have a set cowl patch panels that will need some finessing as the bead is too wide ( early 35 instead of 36 narrower).
The cowl takes quite a bit to get right as you have 4 different pieces of metal all meeting in that area. Floor, rocker, cowl outside and cowl foot.
The rocker shape forward of the A pillar is where I'm getting stuck as it seems to curve upward.
I'll try posting a few better pictures with my phone.
I have rust through at the A pillar which effects my lower hinge.
My final product will not be perfect resto but I hope will look okay and be solid with the beads in the floor in pretty much the right places.
I can't justify buying a complete rocker when I only need less 20% of the length . Plus the exchange and shipping pretty much doubles the price from USD to CAD.
Ill check the links from the hamb. I have found that site has gotten so big it is hard to find anything or get stuff out to the people that can help. The ford barn stays on topic much better.

. I'm a bit crude but I have a pretty good selection of tools I have acquired over the years, from a box pan, roller, bead roller, big stump and lots of hammers. 😀

donor cars around here are long gone, either crushed or returned back to nature. This car was from CA originally.

I have had the car for 4 years rounding up parts and now that I'm not working it time to start. ( I tell people I'm retired but my wife says I'm unemployed) The other places I need to repair I can see what I need to make. If I was still working I would order up the rockers and cut off the 10" or so I need.

McPherson's web sight says their '36 inners are built in four sections, you may be able to buy just the sections you need. They sold us just the front and middle sections we needed for the left side of a '33 a month or so ago. Probably could find someone on here to re-ship the piece/pieces to NS to get away from the UPS brokerage BS, too.

My experience with EMS panels is not great. They usually don't fit. $180 x 2 x exchange plus shipping and taxes would be more than 500 CAD.
Once I figure out the proper shape I'll build my own with $10 worth of metal.

Thats the first time I have heard of that outfit.
Their rocker panels look really nice and detailed.

I sent an email to find out if they will sell just the front piece.
