Hey Ted,
Hm, you are one lucky guy with all those resources ...and a friend to boot ! Computerized laser cutter. Maybe I'll investigate that here, thanks.
Shipping from there might be a deal killer though.

Plasma or laser both affect the material more or less with heat a waterjet doesnīt.
If it the copper is annealed you donīt have to do it again unless itīs been exposed to mechanical force (torqed down).
Another great lead...waterjet cutting, thanks ! Worth while to examine this idea also !

Valuable history lessons are always welcomed by us all , thanks for the leads !

Just a bit about the hunt for head gasket(s) for the Riley 4-port. I went to see Jim Gordon of Specialty Ford Parts. If you've been there, you know why guys like me go there. It's like eye candy and going to the antique museum all in one trip. Plus Jim Is a wealth of knowledge and parts anything '28 thru '34 and more. He told me that some guy had come in and ask him same questions as me. When he told the guy that all he had was a half dozen 'used' original 4 port head gaskets, the guy bought all of them. Jim says no more to be had. Just one of those scarce parts things that our hobby experiences.
But, you are correct in that the 4e4 guys are the well of knowledge about such things....if you can pry it out of them ! I've rec'd more than my share of tutoring from those guys. I knew one such 4e4 guy who made some excellent gaskets, but he has passed on.
