Default Mike's A-Fordable oil filter dilemma...HELP!!!

This is a new and completely unexpected problem for me! I have two Model A motors, both with a Mike's A-Fordable oil filtration system. They are the horizontal style from the valve cover. One is about 18 years old, while the other is two years old. I removed both and decided to put the older one on my new motor. BUT....when I tried to install the usual oil filter, I discovered to my horror that these covers have TWO different sized threaded inlet pipes!!! The older one has a one inch diameter, the newer one has about a 3/4" inlet size. Naturally, the filter for the older system is long gone, so I can't pull a reference number from it to buy the correct size filter. The filter I bought yesterday will not fit because it is too small in the inlet area. See attached photos to judge the different size threaded inlet pipes. The older valve cover with its 1" pipe is on the left, installed and NOT going to be swapped back! The newer system with the 3/4" threaded pipe is on right.
This normally wouldn't be a problem, but all this week my wife is visiting friends in Wisconsin and has the family car. I have been riding Shank's Mare (WALKING 10-15 miles per day) since Sunday in this LOVELY 95 degree comfort factor weather here in HUMID southeastern Iowa. I walked five miles to and from the car parts place yesterday for this incorrect filter, and will have to do the same tomorrow to get the proper sized one. I don't relish going all that way, only to have the dipsh*t kid behind the counter tell me he can't help unless I have the part number. I am under the gun to finish the car in time for Saturday's Bix Beiderbecke Jazz Festival activities. People are depending upon me to show up! So...can someone PLEASE supply a brand and/or part number for an oil filter with a ONE INCH threaded inlet? Thanks in advance.
Marshall
P.S. Why in the world did Mike's make such a change anyhow????

order a complete new assembly and have it overnighted. Problem solved. You should have ordered one a week ago and saved the walking. Wayne

Not trying to be a smarta** but can you call Mike's and ask them about it? They are nice people and I'm sure they would want to help.

Marshall.

SBC Chevy uses a Fram PH30 From my 500,000 miles driving SBCs.

Thread is 13/16ths-16 threads per inch

FL1A not sure of application this would be a Ford filter, Bill kenz would only deal with Fords:

As I remember this is the filter that Bill Kenz manufactured and (sold me in about 1963) used on the first bypass filter for Model A that mounted in place of side timing gear cover.

They were mostly an aluminum casting with steel inserts for the fittings.

Specs for filter threads are:

3/4-16

BTW 88 Toyota Cressida uses a Fram HP-1,

smaller canister than the Ford or GM filters but same 3/4 16 threads as Ford filter.

Maybe this helps...

And speaking of 'smart ass' remarks, I volunteer this:

Marshall - it is too bad that your car won't run with an old original 1928-'31 Ford Model A side cover. In a 'pinch' some of us have been known to have done such a thing. Later, after you have returned from the Bix show, you can without pressure, leisurely work out the problem. Meanwhile, you will have escaped some unhealthy anxiety.

Just use the valve cover that has threads for a filter you have.

Looks to me like the larger threaded one possibly has a threaded sleeve over a smaller threaded area to allow different size filters.

I've run into situations similar to this working on hot rods, when needing a smaller filter for clearance. I go to an auto parts store that I use all the time ask the counter guy who is a gearhead to look at the filter spec catalog, then go over to the rack and pick out the right filter. Filter boxes are not sealed. Works for me, might work for you

Looks like 3 excellent solutions to your dilemma right here.

If fact before I walked 15 miles I would have already done one of them. I agree with Russ. That sure looks like there is a threaded bushing on there.

I changed the filter on mine a few weeks ago, and the threaded adaptor came off with the old filter. Just put it back on with the new filter.

Like everyone said, it looks like a bushing there that should come off. I would cut a piece of copper pipe or aluminum strip and wrap it around the threads (so you dont bugger up the threads) and turn it with channel locks.
I'd also think real hard about calling one of those people that are depending on me to show up for a ride to town, unless you are just one of those people who are too proud to ask for help. Good Luck!

UPDATE!!! I was finally able to get the outer threaded cover off the original smaller threaded nipple on the valve cover. Apparently it had been Loctited, so it was quite stubborn to remove. Now the standard oil filter fits.
To address a couple comments and suggestions posted above, swapping valve covers was not an option for a couple reasons that shall remain a secret. . It HAD to be this valve cover! The rebuilt engine has new insert bearings throughout and a 7.5:1 Super Brumfield head, so clean oil is a must. I couldn't simply put on a standard valve cover without a filtration system.
Thanks to all for their suggestions and advice. This was a stupid-*ssed problem for me that was completely unnecessary. Why in the H*ll someone put that larger threaded pipe over the smaller one is a mystery to me. It didn't flow any extra oil. NO auto parts place in this town had any filter that would fit! What a frustrating waste of time trying to find a filter for that larger threaded pipe! I think we'll be able to make the Bix Beiderbecke gravesite event in the morning (Saturday) after all!

In fairness to Mike's I think the problem was not of their making but possibly you not knowing what you were dealing with until another member commented. An early call to Mike's would have. Resolved the problem quickly. Wayne
