Duel exhaust
My '52 is a stockV8 single exhaust - would like it changed to duals. Won't go with headers and I don't think I want to replace the driver side exhaust manifold. So has anyone done a "Y" off the passenger side pipe and crossed over near the trany? I've seen a pix of this done and I already know about the "J" pipe route on the driver side - I think that puts too much pressure on the front of the exhaust manifold and will cause it to crack - happen to my '50.
Thoughts - pics please.

Re: Duel exhaust
What are you trying to accomplish, just the look? This will not provide any noticeable performance increase.

Re: Duel exhaust
If you want the sound of duals then you need to keep the driver's side and passenger's side pipes separate. If you only want the look of dual exhaust then simply put a couple feet of pipe right near the rear bumper on the driver's side and don't hook it up to anything. I would not use a Y pipe.

Re: Duel exhaust
They are likely as scarce as hen's teeth but according to this ad there was a factory dual exhaust option on the Merc 8BA engine. Included as part of the "P code" police option for Ford police cars. You can see the block off plate on the front of the right side exhaust manifold where the crossover pipe would normally attach.

Re: Duel exhaust
Shoebox Central has dual manifolds that are cast by a poster on here. Pats52 I think. Im going that route on my '51. A guy I work with has a '52 kustom with a six cyl.with duals but unfortunately we work different shifts and I dont know how it was done and I have'nt heard it run..... Mark
