Default Re: 8ba crank in a 36 LB block

I looked at fitting a later crank into a LB block, main reasons for thinking of this was I had a pile of standard flanged rod bearings ,so thought I could machine the rod journals down to 1.999, But it got to be more than that, mains were wider or narrower I can't remember, different dia too.
We are not the first to think of this, and I,m sure someone has done it.
