Is the gas cut off valve supposed to have a spring in it and if so where can I purchase one. Bratton does no carry this spring. I am having a time trying to get this one to quit leaking. Charles

Try your hardware store for many different springs.

Have you tried to reseat the valve? I used some polishing compound and finished up with toothpaste on mine, and it sealed up fine.

For the spring you can also cut down a longer spring and grind the cut end flat. |

I took it apart, applied some while toothpaste and chucked the movable part in a cordless drill and spun it in the body at a low speed until polished.
