Today after a short run in my '29 Tourer I went to turn off the key only to find that it won't move. I pushed in the pop out switch and this killed the engine but the key won't budge. Does anyone have the details on how to dismantle one of these switches? The barrel appears to be completely sealed.

The guts are pushed in from the front side. You need to remove the popout from the car, spray some Kroil around the front where the steel meets the potmetal. I haven't removed one in several years, but I tapped the housing on the edge of a wood block and the inside eventually came out.
Have you sprayed some Kroil into the tumbler area to see if that helps? Maybe it just has a stuck tumbler. |
