Re: '34 Vicky checking in
I have a chance to give a little update, if you're interested. The LH head has two cast-in number sets on it. The main part number if 68-6050B, which I have found was aftermarket, 90Hp, for domed pistons from '36. The other tag reads "3-22-48", which I believe to be a date code from when it was originally cast for service.
Funny thing though is, the pistons are flat-topped in the block. So, this must have been running pretty low compression!
The RH head has only the Ford logo and "USA" cast into it. It was a real bear to take off, like I said, and I ordered some KROIL to soak the studs so they can be replaced during the re-build. From what I can tell, the combustion chambers appear to be the same as the LH head. I'll have to research that a little more.
Incidentally, I drove the car into my barn last summer after having it run for a bit, and it ran OK. There was quite a bit of blowby, though, through the breather.
Thanks for the great information on the site.
