What is the diameter of the piston in the 49-50 master cylinder? anyone have a photo of the set up linkage?

The '49-'51 Ford pass car master cylinder bore is 1", so the pistion will be slightly smaller. These masters are different than "normal" cylinders because they mount through the side and have intragal bracketry to support the clutch linkage. They were also used by other vehicle brands including (?) Kaizer. Pictures can be found on line, like Ebay, etc.
The '49-'50 pickup master has an 1 1/16" bore and is conventional in style and mounting, although with 3 bolts instead of two.

I have a master cylinder that I had thought could be 49-51 since it mounts from the side in two places. It has an elabrate mechanism to reverse brake rod motion and several of the features of the 49-51 master cylinder. The bore is marked on the side as 1. Is this 49-51? Note the large hex on the end can be removed to expose the internals.

I don't know about the bore size, but my '64 mEconoline pickup cylinder is the same externally.

Nope, that's not a '49-'51 Ford master, this is.

That's a 1955 (second series) through 1959 GM truck cylinder. Probably 1-1/8" bore, used in 1/2 and 3/4 ton Chevy and GMC trucks.

In the GM chassis, the pedal pivots in the fork on the cylinder, with no added hardware.

No pic's of the setup, but very likely I have a rebuild kit for these and possible I have a NORS or remanufactured master cyl when I start going through the brake parts. Rod

My 41 Tudor and 49 F1 appear to be the same 3 bolts on front.I hope they are because I couldnt get a 41 at local auto parts house so I got a 49 and it stops great maybe someone could correct me.

41 passenger and 49 truck use the same master cylinder.
