Is it a New Nu Day Timer??? I'd leave it alone. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

The New-Day timer is a "dry timer." Use a small amount of powdered graphite and smear it on the timer. It will provide lubrication and the timer will not wear out prematurely. The graphite does not interfere with the ground. I have lubricated the New-Day timers on my cars for years. I hope this helps, Russ Furstnow
