It's something every flathead owner should Know, ALL 8ba abd 59 a parts are interchangeable. This means all parts. Unfortunatly the Bell housing isn't one of them.
If your 8ba block is junk and you have a good 59A. All the block parts will bolt right on the heads and water pumps nees to have a few holes kluged, but a 1\4 Pipe plug will do the jon valves and camshaft lifters ETC work just fine and the crank and rods don't nee any floating bearings. When running a stock car you learn such things. Good way to install a late distributor, just install a late cam. No Ya don't have to change the cam gear
The BIG Problem is the trans, However if you use a 49 to early 51 Merc trams it eill bolt right up to the 59 block All this saves mone and gets an engine running agin 8rt & *ba bolt to both blocka and are interchangeable. just plug the holes Another interesting you can do Is install a passenger side water pump pully on the drivers side pump. Now all the pulleys line up and you can use one belt with a 12v altinator which fits on a 3duce intake
