Originally, The pull cord brackets were painted taupe for deluxe vehicles with a metallic taupe dash. Standard cars had butler nickel plated brackets to match the interior door handles. The dash on standard 35 vehicles was dark maroon, not brown as you have indicated.

Sorry for the mix up, but this maybe another correction to the book, since I quoted page 43.
