When you replace the fan how much should you tighten the nut and is there a torque spec
|

My experience is that the first time you tighten it, the next day after a short spin it will require retightening.

Hopefully it is a reproduction style that is aluminum. With that said you should place a steel washer under the castle nut. If you don't it will loosen. Grab the fan and try to shake it before starting when you check under the hood. This is a good safety check to see if it is loose. Be safe not sorry. Do this often

If the "look" doesn't bother you, consider a six-blade plastic fan.
