Fan Blade Nut When you replace the fan how much should you tighten the nut and is there a torque spec
|
Re: Fan Blade Nut My experience is that the first time you tighten it, the next day after a short spin it will require retightening.

Re: Fan Blade Nut Hopefully it is a reproduction style that is aluminum. With that said you should place a steel washer under the castle nut. If you don't it will loosen. Grab the fan and try to shake it before starting when you check under the hood. This is a good safety check to see if it is loose. Be safe not sorry. Do this often

Re: Fan Blade Nut When installing the fan on the water pump shaft, drop the opposite end of the water pump shaft a couple of times on something hard like on the flat spot surface on the top of a vice with the fan snug on the shaft to seat it good. Then place the steel washer under the castelated nut and tighten snuggly. Do not back off to get the holes to line up, but tighten.

Re: Fan Blade Nut If the "look" doesn't bother you, consider a six-blade plastic fan.
