Default Re: 1939’ Deluxe 2DR Sedan

Happy St. Pats day .
And a productive day it was.
12V conversion / cloth harness project under control.
So , it was time to dive into drivetrain. Plan is to switch out 39’ 3spd & Throw Out Bearing while installing 36% Mitchell OverDrive . Working by myself on 4 post lift, got the floor boards up. Found out I had to remove the Ford hot water heater to get the metal floor board out. Took tires and wheels off . Lowered and slid the Spring / Axle back.
Left the Trans in place. Removed the Torque Tube and Shaft. After Neighbor got home we slid the Mitchell unit in . Slid the Spring and Axle back up in place.
This experiment was to put my crazy mind at ease. That the Mitchell gear box would actually clear the step down from trunk to rear seat floorboards. It is close , but we believe we should be ok. Maybe I should of took Steve Mitchell’s advice that clearance would not be a issue. But being this sedan is lowered , always had me wondering.
Will sleep great tonight because it fits . And me a tired Olde boy .
Stretch
