Default Drier Sock Poor Coolant Filter Chioce

Here's the link to the vinegar cleaning treatment thread I started a year ago:

http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showth...+cleaning+mess

This past two months I've been loosing a lot of coolant, like 6 quarts to drive 20 miles at 45 MPH. I thought my head gasket must be leaking at higher speed, but as I pulled the top hose tonight I found the drier sock was missing. Tomorrow I'll remove the radiator, fill it with water, and turn it upside down and hope the drier sock comes out. It sure looked like nylon, but it must be some cheap fiber that won't take antifreeze.

Maybe I need to find a real pair of nylons to act as a filter.
