Default 1954 Mercury Sun Valley

Has anyone ever seen a fake Sun Valley? My parents had one back in 1956, looked like the real McCoy, but the green roof half was painted on. It was a hardtop, had the trim strip across the roof separating the two halves, but I don't remember the name emblem. It was almost new, beautiful car, had to be a 1954, as I remember favoring the tail lights over the 1953 version. The only one I ever saw, would this have been a one-off, or a local paint shop special? Were the real Sun Valleys 1954 and 1955 only? Sorry for the dumb questions, I'm out of my league for after the flatheads.
