Default Going to pickup my 1929 A Sport Coupe

I could not stand it any longer, I have made an offer on a 29 Sport Coupe. A good friend of mine is going to take me along with is car hauling trailer for a 100 mile trip to look at and very possibly buy. It supposedly has new tires and engine with very little use. The guy inherited it from his father and has no desire to keep it. Are there any important things I should check out before writing him the check? I have been studding this forum and downloaded a Model A owners manual. z I had a A roadster pickup WAY BACK in 1960 and drove the heck out of it until someone offered me a months salary for it. Thank for any help
Mel
