I wouldn't want the seal to leak around the outer perimeter. Nor would I want to the seal to become loose within the race.
Theres very little oil that would even make it to the seal. And the new seals are as tight A F . Ive just removed some recently and where still tight in there.
I have gone through the heartache of when they're stuck in there. Lucky I have a mate thats a machinist and had to make a special tool to remove and cut what was left after they break apart trying to get them out.
